Ranipur Kotwali police has busted a gang of mobile phone snatchers and arrested four accused including the accused couple. Seven stolen mobile phones and the scooty used in the crime have been recovered from the possession of this gang which has become a headache. SSP Pramod Singh Dobal has patted the back of Ranipur police team.
SSP Pramod Singh Dobal said that three days ago, BHEL employee Mukesh Kumar Gupta, resident of Sector-1 BHEL and Priya Rawat, resident of Ramdham Colony had complained that scooty riders fled after robbing their mobile phones. Instructions were given to register a case in the matter and arrest the accused soon. A team was formed under the leadership of Ranipur Kotwal Kamal Mohan Bhandari and deployed for the arrest.
he team identified the accused after scanning hundreds of CCTV cameras. SSI Manohar Rawat, SI Priyanka Israel, ASI Subodh Ghildiyal, constable Uday Negi, Vinod arrested the accused couple riding a scooty during checking near BHEL Sector 1 Chowk.
During interrogation, both of them confessed to committing the incidents of snatching mobile phones along with two members of their gang. Names of the accused are Ritesh, his wife Durga, residents of village Kudana, police station Shamli, district Shamli, UP, present address Kankhal, Shagun resident of Peeth Pulia Jagjitpur Kankhal, Rahul Kashyap resident of Pantdweep Parking Lal Kothi
The couple used to do recce with a minor
Inspector Kamal Mohan Bhandari said that the accused couple used to do recce first with a minor. They used to target women passing through deserted places. After doing the recce, they used to snatch mobile phones from the women and hand them over to Rahul and Shagun who were already present at the crime scene. After this, they used to share the money received from selling the mobile phones among themselves. The accused Shagun and Rahul Kashyap have previously gone to jail in cases of robbery and theft. The accused are matriculation and intermediate pass. They used to carry out incidents of mobile robbery to fulfill their drug addiction.
